Subwaydle

Subwaydle is a fun way to see how well you know the New York subway system. The main goal is to plan a day trip using subway signs, but there are some rules about turns and transfers that you have to follow. If you're not from New York or don't take the subway, this version might sound scary.

How to play "Subwaydle"
Wordle and Subwaydle have a lot of the same rules. A certain line runs every day between two of the metro's 472 stations. For example, in Friday's puzzle, people have to take two different routes from Jefferson Avenue to Wall Street. To get from one train to the next, you have to plan a trip that includes three trains and two transfers. No matter how good the route is, it has to work within the limits of the metro system. Neither transfers between stations nor bus connections are allowed.

Similar to Wordle, each time a hint is given, the color of the cells will change. The weekend quizzes are based on the weekend train schedule, while the weekday quizzes are based on the noon train schedule. There are six chances to get it right.

Subway laws
There are other ways to get there, but the goal is to figure out which one fits the day's puzzle the best. The path may or may not be the best or quickest way. You should also know that there are several subway stations in New York City with the same name.

There is no way to go back because you can't go to the same station more than once.

Transit is only allowed on routes that are not the same (i.e., you cannot switch back and forth between two lines with the same stops). A local road can become an expressway and then go back to being a local road, but an expressway can't become a local road and then go back to being an expressway.

You can use the South Ferry, Whitehall St. South Ferry, or Bowling Green ferry stations to get to or from St. George (using the Staten Island Ferry). There are also free transfers between stations that aren't on the same system. People think that you can turn in any direction at any station, even though that's not true.

On Subwaydle, there is a "Hint" button that will give you the starting and ending points without showing you the actual route. Trying to find a solution can be just as hard. I hope your travels go well!
